D2 Semi-final Seattle Academy vs. Vashon Island

by

The Seattle Academy Cardinal has been front-running all season, looking forward to this game and, hopefully, the next one. Riley Johnson, back from a broken jaw, helped his team to a decisive quarterfinal victory over Liberty. The defense, led by 1st team All-Conference and broken-legged Andrew McCall, held the Patriots to just three goals. Offensively, the trio of Johnson, Parker Woo and David Funes look to continue their terrorizing of opponents nets. Junior Tommy Hadac rounds out a midfield that was the class of the Metro league this season.

The Vultures of Vashon are coming off a power win of their own, having bumped off Camas on Saturday, 12-9. Their goalie extraordinaire, Marquis Stendhal, turned in a 15 save performance and is looking to repeat that success tonight. He’ll be helped by senior All-Conference defenders Ian McWhirter and Nick Amundsen. Offensively, three more All-Conference players carry the load, led by Griff Jennings, coming off a four goal performance against the Papermakers in the quarters. Ezra Ende and Winter Krimmert will help the Vultures carry on, hopeful into the state finals on Saturday.

It’s a great night for a short ferry ride. Make the trip and see a great game!
